Comprehensive Policies and Procedures

To outline our commitment to compliance, we have developed policies and procedures that cover critical areas such as product safety, quality control, environmental sustainability, labor practices, data privacy, and ethical sourcing. All employees and suppliers are informed of and expected to adhere to these policies.

We educate our employees and suppliers about compliance requirements and best practices by conducting regular training sessions to ensure that everyone involved in our operations is well-informed and knowledgeable.

To assess our compliance with policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements, we conduct periodic internal audits and take prompt action to address any identified areas of non-compliance or potential risks.

Supply Chain Monitoring

We have implemented a Supplier Code of Conduct to ensure compliance throughout our entire supply chain. We’ve established clear guidelines for supplier selection, evaluation, and ongoing monitoring. Regular audits and assessments are conducted to verify that our suppliers meet our compliance standards, especially in areas such as product safety, ethical sourcing, and environmental practices.

Record Keeping

In order to demonstrate our compliance during external audits or regulatory inquiries, we maintain documentation related to our compliance efforts, including policies, training records, audit reports, supplier evaluations, and corrective actions taken. 

Incident Response

In the event of compliance incidents or violations, we have a prompt and thorough investigation process in place, and implement appropriate corrective measures . We analyze such incidents to identify areas of improvement and prevent future occurrences.

Continuous Improvement

To remain proactive in our compliance efforts, we actively monitor emerging issues and stay updated on changes in regulations, industry standards, and best practices, and incorporate any necessary updates into our program.

Our Supplier Network

We produce the majority of our products in our own facilities. We have a small network of subcontractors, who are evaluated and selected based on their capacity, service, and ability to produce high-quality merchandise that meets our social, environmental, and safety compliance. Our compliance team personally visits each factory that we do business with to ensure that our suppliers are adhering to our Supplier Code of Conduct.

Product Safety Testing Protocols

Velociterra works with internationally reputable testing labs that are approved by the CPSC (Consumer Product Safety Commission). This ensures compliance with all federal, state, and local safety laws based upon the intended audience, intended usage, and material components.

Testing includes but is not limited to: 

      •   Prop 65 – California law that regulates 900+ chemicals known to cause cancer, birth defects, or other reproductive harm.

Prop 65 Frequently Asked Questions:

Q: How often does Velociterra test products for Prop 65 compliance? 

We perform quarterly strategic testing on products to ensure compliance. We test at Consumer Product Safety Commission approved laboratories such as Intertek.

Q: How can I arrange for my product to be tested? 

We can arrange testing at an CPSIA approved lab if requested. We add the testing cost to the order and it requires an additional two weeks to our production timeline. Contact us to discuss requirements and cost.

Q: Can I be certain of receiving a fully-compliant product based on receiving a testing report of a similar product from the past? 

We are happy to share tests of recent similar products if we have them, but all of our products are custom and each is made from unique materials. Our suppliers test our raw materials regularly, but your unique product won’t share the same materials as other recently tested products. Contact us for more information on how to arrange a safety test of your product.

Q: What is the cost of product testing? 

Most tests cost $250-$1000 depending on the number of different materials used in your custom product. If testing is requested, we will provide a quote of costs for your approval prior to testing. All testing costs are added to your order. We use labs approved by the Consumer Product Safety Commission, such as Intertek.   

Q. When do you label products? 

To date, our products haven’t exceeded the safe harbor limits as per Prop 65, so our products don’t require a warning label. If you want us to label your products, the label cost will be added to your order. For more info about safe harbor limits, see ​​https://oehha.ca.gov/proposition-65. 

Q. Are products safe to use despite the warning label?

The presence of a Prop 65 warning does not necessarily mean that the product is unsafe or non-compliant with other safety regulations.  

Q. Can I return the product if I am uncomfortable with the warning?

We will discuss the requirement of a Prop 65 warning before production. We don’t allow returns of a custom product because of Prop 65 labels.
